CHAMP
What is CHAMP?
CHAMP is the Covenant Harbor Apprentice Ministry Program. CHAMP is living authentic lives. "Don't just pretend that you love others. Really love them" (Romans 12:9, NLT). This is what Christ is calling believers to do. The purpose of CHAMP is to encourage, train, teach, mentor, and challenge participants to mature in their faith through serving at camp. This is no small task. There are many unforeseen challenges and rewards, low times and high, times of frustration and freedom, conflict and lasting relationships. The CHAMP program is a journey and the destination is maturity in Christ. We see our purpose primarily "to equip God's people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12-13, NLT).
Key verses for the CHAMP program are 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Philipians 3:12-14, 1 Timothy 4:7-8, 15, and Hebrews 12:1-2. Christ-like maturity means seeking to know the heart of God and submitting to His ways and authority in life. By doing this, your confidence will grow in Him, you will gain new insights and awareness of who you are in Christ, and you will develop Christ-like leadership aptitudes and understanding. CHAMP is community living, learning by doing, serving and investing in others, submitting to Christ's Lordship in your life and becoming the person God created you to be. We are confident that CHAMP can be a significant part of your life journey and agree with the apostle Paul when he wrote, "be confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philipians 1:6, NIV).
CHAMP Details
As an apprentice you will recieve room, board, and a weekly salary. You will also have specific structure given to your experience that enhances your learning, exploring, and reflection. This will help you seek and discern what the Lord's will is for your life and mature as a person and disciple of Christ. The experience primarily includes work with the Snake Road Adventure Center. The Snake Road Adventure Center is a ministry department of Covenant Harbor that provides personal grow opportunities through the ropes course, climbing tower, outdoor education programs, mission adventure trips and wilderness trips.
