This program is great for kids that want the opportunity to learn and have fun! Campers will spend two days learning about a skill area of thier choice. |
General Info
Age Groups
Because the majority of campers register in the winter, the grade for our camp programs is based on the current (fall 2011 - spring 2012) school year. Therefore, during the summer Day Camp Skills will be filled with campers who have finished Kindergarten through 6th grades.
Tours
There is only so much you can grasp from pictures and our website. A tour is a great way to see camp for yourself while you hear from our staff details of what camp is like. CLICK HERE to find out more about tours of Covenant Harbor.
Discounts
We are sorry but there are no discounts available for the Day Camp Skills program.

Preparing for Camp
What to Bring
Campers should have a range of clothes for any weather. Clothing should allow campers to be active. Include closed-toe shoes for activities and water shoes for swimming. Modest swimsuits are required. See the list below or CLICK HERE for a detailed packing list. A back pack or tote bag makes it simple to carry items to and from camp.

Spending Money
At check-in you will have the opportunity to put spending money in your camper's camp store account. This money will allow them to purchase things in the afternoon at our camp stores. There is candy, soda, water and Gatorade ranging from $.25 to $1.25. Day campers are limited to $3.00 per day on snacks, candy and soda. Water and Gatorade are not limited. They can also purchase souvenirs from the store. CLICK HERE to see what our store has to offer.
What NOT to Bring
Do not bring cell phones or any pets, electronic devices (including CD players, game systems, and iPods), firearms, weapons of any kind, fireworks, tobacco, alcohol or drugs.
Campers will have one opportunity to turn in their cell phones on the first night of camp. Any cell phones discovered after that point may result in immediate dismissal from the camp program.
Cabin Requests
It is great to invite your friends to come to camp with you, and we want to make it possible for your camper to be in a group with his/her friends. There is a spot on the registration form (Cabinmate Requests), where you can list the names of up to two other people your camper would like to be grouped with. Due to our desire to form a healthy group community, we will not put more than three campers together in one group. If your group is larger than three, campers will be separated in different groups based on first choice cabinmate requests.
Cabin/Counselor Assignments
Every camper is excited to learn who their counselor is; unfortunately that information is not available until the check-in process upon arrival.
Arriving at Camp
Sunday Night Info Session
If you are new to day camp at Covenant Harbor you might want to get some more information and meet our staff before dropping you kids off. There is an optional information session the Sunday night immediately before your camper's week. You will meet our program directors, find out who your counselor is, and take a tour of the camp. You will get more information about this once you have registered.
Check-in
Check-in occurs on the morning of the first day of camp between 8:30 and 9:00. Upon arrival, our staff will greet you at your car and you will go through our drive-through check-in process. Once you have checked in your camper(s) will be able to get out of the car and meet their counselor.
Late drop off/early pick up
Late arrival or early pick up is highly discouraged and should be considered only in extreme circumstances. If you must arrive late for any reason please call our office in advance so we may prepare for your arrival. Early pick up can be arranged at check-in. We will not allow a camper to be picked up and dropped off more than once during the camp day because of the negative experience that has on other campers.
Directions
A variety of routes make Covenant Harbor accessible from any surrounding area. GPS units recognize our address as 1724 W Main St., Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. CLICK HERE for more information about directions to Covenant Harbor.
While at Camp
Schedule

Skills Options
Campers will spend 1.5 hours each morning in their skill groups, learning about and practicing their skill. This combination of instruction and hands-on participation will maximize a camper's enjoyment of the topic. Choose 1 skill to participate in for the entire 2 day program.
Watersports: This skill is all about the water! Campers will spend time with non-power boats (canoeing, kayaking, sailing or paddle boats); water-skiing, wake boarding or knee boarding; and 2 banana boating, tubing and playing on the water playground. Water sports skill groups will be split based on the age of the camper. Campers must pass the Covenant Harbor swim test to participate. There is an additional $15 fee (in addition to the cost of camp) for this skill.
Adventure: This skill will bring out the adventurer in your camper. Campers will spend time at our high ropes, climbing tower or giant swing; and exploring outdoor adventures such as outdoor cooking, survival skills, orienteering and more. Adventure skill groups will be split based on the age of the camper. There is an additional $10 fee (in addition to the cost of camp) for this skill.

Program Highlights
Skills - Each morning campers will have 1.5 hours to learn their chosen skill. Trained camp staff will teach each skill group in a fun and interactive way. If your camper is coming to both Day Camp skills camps they can pick 2 different skills or do the same one twice. The skills will not change for each program.
Real Faith - Our goals of this "Bible teaching" is to introduce campers to the person of Jesus Christ. Each session is creative and age appropriate, and campers are never forced or coerced to make any decisions. These times are made very interactive with skits, singing, messy games and creative teaching methods. To learn more about the spiritual goals of our summer camp programs, CLICK HERE.
Big Game - This is a chance for campers to run around, be crazy, and act like a kid. Whether they are trying to get chips into a bucket, pull someone's flag, or use a sponge to get the soap off the other team, it is sure to bring out a friendly competition.
Free Time - This is a chance for campers to choose how they want to spend their time at camp. They will be given the choice to go to the waterfront or the big field and our trained staff will go with them to their chosen activity. At the waterfront they will have the opportunity to go to the shallow end, the deep end, the water playground, or the banana boat. (Campers must pass a swim test to go anywhere but the shallow end) At the Big Field campers will be able to go to the mountain boarding hill, arts and crafts, the skate park, or the archery range. (Campers must be 7 years old to go to the archery range)
Activities
This camp is going to be more structured than a regular week of day camp where a large part of each day will be focused on the skill your camper chooses. There will be a short free time during each day where campers will have a chance to choose between some of the other activities we have here at Covenant Harbor but two days is not long enough to fit all of Covenant Harbor's great activities in. We encourage you to sign up for both skills camps so your camper will be able to do all of the activities they want. CLICK HERE for details about and photos of our activities.
Health & Safety
