Discover Wisconsin's Door County, miles of breathtaking shoreline, natural wonders, pastoral sunsets, inspiring artists, and charming historic communities that provide a backdrop for a week of enjoyable learning opportunities. Learn about the Door Peninsula's unique geography and geological formations, the myriad of artistic expressions, fishing and state-of-the-art orchard industries. Spend one day in the Upper Door to visit galleries and meet artists, and take docent-led tours of Ephraim's Moravian Village and Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Discover Sturgeon Bay's maritime and historical museums. One afternoon and evening is free to soak in the area's activities or bask at the water's edge.

Explore the visual, performing, and musical arts of Door County’s art colony. Experience an original folk play at American Folklore Theatre nestled among the trees of Peninsula State Park; enjoy the updated structure at America’s first outdoor theatre, Peninsula Players; applaud the talented high school students who devote themselves to musical excellent at Birch Creek. Pre-show discussions provide a better understanding of performances. Lectures focus on the history of Door County theatre; the impact of arts on communities; the influence of nature in art, and the artist’s perspective, giving an authentic educational experience that takes participants into the historic beauty of the Door Peninsula art community. A true immersion experience!

Door County: Savor The Flavors

Explore Door County ’s culinary riches from family run orchards to chef-led cooking schools with lots of extras in between. Enjoy lunch and an exclusive cooking demo at the Inn at Kristofer's in Sister Bay with Chef Terri Milligan using local ingredients. Back on the mainland watch the fiery boil-over of a traditional Lake Michigan fish-boil. Work as a team at the Savory Spoon Cooking School with Chef Janice Thomas to prepare a 5-course meal using seasonal Door County flavors; then sit down and enjoy your creations. Visit a vineyard and taste the fruit of the vine. Follow your nose to the bakery for freshly baked pecan rolls. Meet a farming family and see their historic cherry and apple orchards; savor the sights, smells and tastes. Sensory overload at its best!

Door County by Nature: Hiking and Kayaking in Parks and Preserves

With more than 200 miles of shoreline, five state parks and 30 county parks, Wisconsin’s Door Peninsula boasts an arresting collection of environments in which lovers of the outdoors can absorb the wonders of the natural world. Learn about the region firsthand on daily hikes to natural places both well-known and less-trodden. In Newport State Park, find miles of trails, remnants of the northern Boreal forest and even bears. Hike along the Mink River Estuary, take in the sunset at Sven's Bluff and experience both the Green Bay and Lake Michigan sides of the peninsula. Expert instructors prepare you for a kayak adventure on the Mink River Estuary, where you study water conservation, invasive species and the traits of a healthy water system.
