This shorter overnight program is a great chance for 1st time campers to try out Pier 30. Campers will get to experience the large group setting while still bonding with their smaller cabin group. Each day will be filled with exciting activities and age appropriate Bible teaching.

General Info

Age Groups

Because the majority of campers register in the winter, the grade for our camp programs is based on the current (fall 2011 - spring 2012) school year. Therefore, during the summer, Pier 30 Snapshot will be filled with campers who have just finished 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.

Discounts

Early Registration - Save $30 when you register and pay in full by March 15. Your registration form and payment must be received by March 15 - no exceptions. Please note: meeting the early registration discount does not guarantee camp availability.

Preparing for Camp

What to Bring

Campers should have a range of clothes for any weather. Clothing should allow campers to be active. Include closed-toe shoes for activities and water shoes for swimming. Modest swimsuits are required. See the list below or CLICK HERE for a detailed packing list

Spending Money

At check-in you will have the opportunity to put spending money in your camper's camp store account. This money will allow them to purchase things during free time at our camp stores. There is candy, soda, water and Gatorade ranging from $.25 to $1.25. Pier 30 campers are limited to $4.00 per day on snacks, candy and soda. Water and Gatorade are not limited. In addition to the store, spending money deposited in a camper's account will be used for certain activity charges. Every camper is provided the opportunity for one boat ride during the week free of charge but there will be the opportunity for campers to sign up for up to two additional rides in the afternoons. These second and third rides will cost campers $3.00 taken from their spending money account. Similarly, if a camper wishes to take part in more than one high ropes/climbing activity, that too will cost $3.00 from the spending account.

What NOT to Bring

Do not bring cell phones or any pets, electronic devices (including CD players, game systems, and iPods), firearms, weapons of any kind, fireworks, tobacco, alcohol or drugs.

Campers will have one opportunity to turn in their cell phones on the first night of camp. Any cell phones discovered after that point may result in immediate dismissal from the camp program.

Cabin Requests

It is great to invite your friends to come to camp with you, and we want to make it possible for your camper to be in a cabin with his/her friends. There is a spot on the registration form (Cabinmate Requests), where you can list the names of up to two other people your camper would like to be housed with. Due to the size of our cabins and our desire to form a healthy cabin community, we will not put more than three campers together in one cabin. If your group is larger than three, campers will be separated in different cabins based on first choice cabinmate requests.

Cabin/Counselor Assignments

Every camper is excited to learn what cabin they will be in and who their counselor is. That information is available during the check-in process upon arrival.

Arriving at Camp

Check-in

Check-in occurs the afternoon of the Sunday of camp, and specific arrival times will be given after registration. Upon arrival, our staff will greet your family and guide you through the check-in and move-in process. Pier 30 Snapshot will officially start with a welcome and orientation session at 5:15. Our staff does not assume responsibility for campers until the conclusion of this session.

Late drop-off/early pick-up

Late arrival or early pick-up is highly discouraged and should be considered only in extreme circumstances. If you must arrive late for any reason please call our office in advance so we may prepare for your arrival. Early pick up can be arranged at check-in. We will not allow a camper to be picked up and dropped off more than once during the camp week because of the negative impact it has on yours and other campers.

While at Camp

Schedule

This four night program starts on Sunday afternoons and ends Thursday morning. Every day is filled with a mix great activities, relationship building and Bible teaching.

Typical Day

Due to the changing nature of our programs, each week offers a different mix of activities. Below is a very general outline of what each day includes. However, each day is a bit different than the one before.

Program Highlights

Real Faith/Prime Time - Our goal for these "Bible teaching" times is to introduce campers to the person of Jesus Christ, the love God has for us, and what it means to be in relationship with Him. Each session is creative and age appropriate and, of course, campers are never forced or coerced to make any decisions. These times are made very interactive with skits, singing, messy games and creative teaching methods. To learn more about the spiritual goals of our summer camp programs, CLICK HERE.

Quiet Time - This time is a chance for campers to sit quietly in God's Presence, read a verse or two, and spend time with God. They are encouraged to write or journal while being outside in God's beautiful creation. This time is shorter early in the week but lengthens as it continues.

Talk Backs - We realize that all kids learn in different ways. This is a chance for campers to do hands-on learning activities, hear the day's truth presented in a different way, and ask their counselors any questions they may have.

Free Time - Free Time allows campers to control their schedule and decide for themselves how they would like to spend their time. Counselors make available options known to campers and inform them of any available . All activities are supervised by trained counselors and other staff.

Big Game - This is a chance for campers to run around, be crazy, and act like a kid without strong pressure to win. Whether they are trying to get chips into a bucket, pull someone's flag, or running around camp, big games are sure to bring out a friendly competition.

Facility

During a Snapshot week campers will stay in a variety of different cabin buildings including Engebretson, Guest House, Hilltop, the Triplets and the Lodge. Each cabin is different but each provides a quality cabin environment for campers. In addition, most indoor activities and all large group sessions will be held in our climate controlled Jackson Family Activity Center. To learn more about lodging facilities CLICK HERE.

Dietary Needs

A significant number of campers have unique dietary needs that can be easily accommodated. Our main dining facility is completely nut-free, as is our primary camp store. Please notify our registrar (camp@covenantharborg.org) of any specific camper needs at least 3 weeks in advance so that we may fully accommodate your camper.
