It's Time to Maple!
We are now back from our mission trip to Chile and are beginning to tap trees for maple sap. We are thankful for the consistent cold weather because that delays the flow of sap until the right time. It also allows us to get all the maple lines up, clean out the maple shed and get everything else in order to collect sap and begin cooking it. There are only a few weeks of prime maple weather and we need to make sure we are ready.
We are also looking to be ready for all our maple tours. Our maple tours give groups a "taste" of the mapling process and literally taste the sap and one of our famous maple cookies! On a typical year we will have over 800 school children come for our tour.
We are also in the process of preparing for our annual Maple Fest. This event is open to all and is on March 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We have an all you can eat pancake breakfast, activities, maple tours, camp tours, animal show, helicopter rides (weather permitting) and a craft fair. If you are interested in volunteering for this event or if you would like to be a vendor in our craft fair please contact us at 262-248-3600 or office@covenantharbor.org.
